NEW SKILLING QUEENSLANDERS FOR WORK CLASS BEGINS
We are excited to announce the latest round of Skilling Queenslanders for Work students, started their training on Tuesday, 1st October. As part of this program, we offer a Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways, specifically for people from refugee and migrant backgrounds.
Throughout the training period, participants will strengthen foundational skills required to help them enter the workforce or pursue further vocational education, whilst increasing literacy, numeracy and digital literacy. Some of the units we cover during class are:
· Use routine strategies for work-related learning
· Use digital technology for non-routine workplace tasks
· Use routine strategies for career planning
· Use oral communication skills to participate in workplace meetings
· Read and respond to routine workplace information
· Complete routine workplace formatted texts
· Use digital technologies to communicate in a workplace
· Interact effectively with others at work
· Use inclusive work practices
· Job interview practice….and much more!!!
In addition to gaining a recognised qualification, participants benefit from ongoing support from the Program Coordinator, to achieve their employment and educational goals.
This support includes tailored resume and cover letter development, assistance with police check applications, job application submissions, attending employment expos, support during job inductions, referrals for further education, and mentoring even after employment.
