EMPOWERING WOMEN
Multicultural Women’s Group Gathering ended 2019 with a successful Empowerment Forum, where guest speakers shared their journeys of struggle and achievement.
Speakers coming from non–main English-speaking countries (Johanna - Indonesia, Sandi – Myanmar, and Catharina - Denmark) shared their experiences about education, employment and leadership. Additional presentations were from local business women including Melisa Anderson, Managing Director of Blaq Diamonds’ Women Empowerment; Kate Austin, Community Engagement Manager of Ergon Energy Network; and Renee Madsen, Principal Consultant of “Create and Evaluate”.
The forum was facilitated by Tahlia Briggs, Safer Pathways for Women Project Leader. Thanks to all of the inspirational speakers and thanks to Rachel as well for your language support. All presenters impressed the audience with their own approach to public speaking and encouraged them to be lifelong learners, to reflect on their past and present to form their future, to work with what they love to do, to be resilient, and to remember that we are all leaders by encouraging others to grow.
