MEET OUR TEAM
My name Kasma and I am the Accommodation Officer at TMSG. I am originally from Indonesia. I graduated from University with an honours degree in Anthropology, where I then went on to work in west Papua New Guinea. In 1995 I visited Australia with my husband and then settled in Townsville one year later, where I have lived ever since.
For the first few years that I lived in Australia, I was a full-time stay at home mother and looked after my children while I studied English. I also studied Post Graduate Women Studies at James Cook in 2003. In 2005 my husband and I opened up our own business in fire safety, supplying to harvester machines in North Queensland. In 2008 I joined TMSG and later on took the position as Accommodation Officer in 2009. I continued to work part-time at TMSG whilst operating my own business, and while raising my four children and juggling their busy schedules with extracurricular activities.
I have been so fortunate to have had so many opportunities due to my involvement with TMSG in the Humanitarian Settlement program, which has allowed me to implement my own knowledge into the role. My goal in life is to raise my children to become good citizens and for them to achieve their dream. My son is studying accounting whilst working at a travel agency in Brisbane, my eldest daughter is currently working as a scientist after graduating Biomedical Science with honours. My middle daughter is currently studying dentistry and is in her third year, and my youngest daughter is in year 11 in high school. I could not be more proud.
