MEET OUR TEAM
"My name is Innocent Rwamuhizi and I am a Youth Worker and a Life Skills Presenter to newly arrived refugees in Townsville.

I have been working at TMSG since 2017 and I hold a Social Work degree obtained at James Cook University. I was born in DR Congo and raised in Rwanda; I arrived in Australia with my 3 siblings in 2010 under a humanitarian visa. I arrived in Australia with very limited English and since then I have made a significant effort to learn as much English as I can and to be able to complete a University degree. Since 2018 I have been heavily involved in the international Advocacy of Congolese Refugees and I am currently undertaking a Law degree at JCU which I am hoping to complete in the next two years.

I am a leader of one of the Congolese Communities here in Townsville and Vice President of the Congolese Community of Kinyarwanda speaking at the national level. I love working at TMSG as it gives me the opportunity to give back to the community and it has helped me to develop a better understanding of the issues refugees face when they are settling here in Australia."
